Netanyahu and Defense Minister Hold Urgent Security Talks Amid US-Iran Escalation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz held an urgent security consultation on Wednesday evening in response to the escalating conflict between the United States and Iran. This came after extensive US airstrikes targeted 90 locations across Iran, the highest number since the ceasefire, followed by Iranian missile and drone attacks on US bases in the Gulf region.

Simultaneously, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir conducted a series of situation assessments at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv, involving senior officials from military intelligence, the air force, and operations divisions. Zamir is maintaining direct communication with senior US Central Command and Pentagon officials as Israel closely monitors developments in the Persian Gulf.

Israeli security sources estimate that the current exchanges will remain focused on the Gulf area but are preparing for the possibility of Iranian missile launches targeting Israel. Jerusalem officials warned that any Iranian strike against Israel would provoke a strong Israeli response.

The US strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline, including two railway bridges in northern Iran. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and the Fifth Fleet’s base in the Gulf. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards warned of immediate escalation if US attacks continue.

US President Donald Trump described the strikes as retaliation for Iranian attacks on ships and warned of harsher consequences if such attacks recur. Despite the heightened tensions, Israel’s Home Front Command has not changed civilian instructions but remains vigilant and prepared for all scenarios.
