Israeli Defense Minister Katz Says Israel Wants to Attack Iran but US Blocks Action

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated in an interview at Channel 14's security conference that Israel is eager to strike Iran but the United States does not approve such action. Katz emphasized that the US has broader interests in Iran that differ from Israel's. He described Israel's achievements against Iran as significant, saying the "arrogant empire" that threatened to destroy Israel has been shattered. Katz warned that if Iran fires on Israel, Israel will respond with full force and is prepared to strike Iran decisively.

Regarding a drone launched from Iraq and intercepted near the Jordanian border earlier that day, Katz said Israel knows how to handle such incidents and is ready for any threats. He also noted that US President Donald Trump understands Israel will not withdraw from buffer zones in Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria. Katz mentioned his recent visit to Gaza, highlighting the presence of extensive tunnels there.

On the possibility of establishing Nahal nuclear facilities in Gaza before upcoming elections, Katz said the timing depends on Hamas failing to uphold agreements. He concluded by warning about Turkey and the Muslim Brotherhood axis, calling it potentially very dangerous and advising Turkish President Erdogan not to provoke Israel. Katz stressed Israel's responsibility to protect its interests in the region.
