Haredi Newspaper Editor Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography Near Jerusalem

A 58-year-old man from Kiryat Yearim, a settlement near Jerusalem, was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography. The police announced that he will be brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for a detention extension hearing. The investigation began after police received information indicating the suspect held illegal materials. Youth Exposure Unit detectives raided his home, seized a laptop and mobile phone, and took him in for questioning. The digital evidence is currently being examined.

This arrest follows a recent indictment against a central Israel resident accused of severe sexual offenses against his two children between 2019 and 2024, including repeated rape and indecent acts. The indictment also details ongoing violent behavior by the accused. Additionally, about a week ago, Alon Suisa, 46, from Nesher, was arrested on suspicion of sexual offenses against minors, with police seeking additional victims after Suisa allegedly targeted girls in a WhatsApp group related to "squashy." The court approved publicizing Suisa's name and photo to aid the investigation.

Two weeks ago, the Central District Court in Lod sentenced Itay Levi, a 52-year-old father of three and former CEO of the cybersecurity firm Carnelius, to 10 years in prison for sexual offenses and privacy violations against children aged 4 to 12. Levi was arrested last April for abusing five children and recording acts of sodomy.

These cases highlight ongoing police efforts to combat child sexual abuse and exploitation in Israel, with authorities actively pursuing suspects and encouraging victims to come forward.
