Israeli Police Officer Fired Over Threats to Family but Faces No Criminal Charges
An Israeli police officer investigated for threatening his wife and children with statements such as "I will blow you up" and "I will stand on your neck" has been dismissed from his position but will not face criminal prosecution. During the investigation, recordings captured the officer's son asking his mother, "Is that a police officer?" to which the father replied, "I am not a police officer, I am a criminal." The Police Investigations Department decided to close the case, stating that the circumstances were not suitable for criminal charges and that the criminal justice system was not the appropriate framework for resolving the matter. Despite the decision not to prosecute, the police department chose to terminate the officer's employment.
