Beersheba Hosts Memorial for Esteemed Rebbetzin Deda Dvda on 30th Day Since Passing

A memorial gathering was held in Beersheba on Sunday evening to mark the 30th day since the passing of the righteous Rebbetzin Deda Dvda. The event drew numerous rabbis, public figures, and local residents, including prominent city rabbis and family members who shared words of inspiration and strength in her memory. Central to the ceremony was a stirring speech by her son, Rabbi Yaish Dvda, who briefly closed the Talmud and traveled from Beit Shemesh to Beersheba to encourage the community to follow his mother's virtuous path.

Rabbi Yaish Dvda cited the Talmudic passage from Tractate Berachot about meticulousness "on themselves up to the size of an olive and an egg," interpreting it to mean that early pious individuals were stringent primarily on their own behavior, especially in physical matters like food intake, while generously supporting others. He recounted how his mother never purchased food or drink outside the home and limited her clothing purchases to once every few years, dedicating her resources instead to charity and supporting Torah scholars and community members.

The event also featured participation from the Chief Rabbi of Beersheba, Rabbi A. Deri, Rabbi Y. Shalev of Yeruham, and Rabbi Ofer Karadi, chairman of the local religious council. In conjunction with the 30-day memorial, a booklet titled "The Root of Your Piety" was published, detailing the history of the Dvda rabbinic family.
