Eliyahu Livman Links Brother’s Murder to Recent Terror Attack in West Bank

The story · English

During a condolence visit to the Malt family, whose son Benyahu Malt was killed in a recent shooting attack, former Kiryat Arba council head Eliyahu Livman revealed a connection between this latest terror incident and the murder of his own brother 28 years ago. Livman explained that his brother, Shneur Shlomo Livman, was murdered alongside Arel Ben Nun by terrorists from the village of Tal. These terrorists were later released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal and were subsequently involved in another murder within Livman’s family, named after his father.

Livman emphasized that if the village of Tal had been destroyed at the time of the initial attack, further casualties could have been prevented, stating, "If Tal had been destroyed then, we could say my brother and Arel were the last victims." He called for restoring deterrence by exacting a heavy price on terrorism and establishing a settlement in memory of Benyahu Malt and Yuval Ezra, who was also killed in terror attacks.

Addressing the Malt family, Livman offered words of strength and faith, acknowledging that even after 28 years the pain remains but stressing that the entire Israeli nation shares in their journey. He urged continuing Benyahu’s path with faith, courage, and unity.
