Slobodka Yeshiva Head Urges Support for 93 Orphan Couples Marrying This Month

As the wedding season peaks in Israel's Haredi communities, 'Kupat Ha'Ir' charity has identified 93 orphaned brides and grooms marrying in the month of Av. Each wedding involves significant expenses, including the ceremony, dowry, clothing, and more. Kupat Ha'Ir provides special grants to eligible orphans, but the large number this year has prompted urgent action.

Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch, head of the Slobodka Yeshiva, deeply concerned by the financial needs, convened an emergency meeting at his home to strategize fundraising efforts. He personally wrote and recorded a heartfelt appeal to the public, calling for donations of 930 shekels per orphan couple to prevent them from facing shame or hardship.

Rabbi Hirsch emphasized the importance of supporting these young couples who start their new lives with fewer resources. He promised that donors would merit divine protection during the upcoming "bein hazmanim" (interim vacation period) and success in the month of Elul. The rabbi urged the community to open their hearts and assist in meeting the fundraising goal to ensure meaningful support for all 93 orphaned couples currently establishing their homes.

This initiative highlights the communal responsibility felt within the Haredi world to care for vulnerable members during significant life events. The call for donations remains open, with Rabbi Hirsch leading the effort to secure the necessary funds and blessings for the couples and their benefactors.
