Alex Tyus Returns to Israel, Signs with Hapoel Haifa for 2026/27 Season

Veteran center Alex Tyus, aged 38 and standing 2.03 meters tall, has signed with Hapoel Haifa for the 2026/27 basketball season, marking his fourth stint in Israeli basketball across six different periods. Tyus previously played for Ashdod, Hapoel Jerusalem, and Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he notably won the EuroLeague title in 2014. Throughout his career, he has competed in top European leagues and EuroLeague teams. In the most recent season, he played for the Turkish team Piza Bulls, helping them earn promotion to the top league while averaging 9.7 points and 8.8 rebounds over 26 minutes per game.

Hapoel Haifa's owner, Adir Sabag, expressed commitment to building a quality team aiming for promotion and praised Tyus as an excellent player from high European levels who will help the team meet its goals. Head coach Sharon Drucker welcomed Tyus back, highlighting his proven track record in Israel and his maintained physical strength, noting it is a pleasure to have him join the "red family."
