Eight Flamingos Arrive at Hula Valley as Autumn Bird Migration Begins

Eight flamingos arrived at the Hula Valley nature reserve over the weekend, joining other migratory birds signaling the start of the autumn migration season. The Jewish National Fund (JNF-KKL) explained that the shortening daylight hours mark the beginning of this migration period, with storks expected to arrive later in August. Einbar Shlomit Rubin, the site manager at Hula Valley, described the season as fascinating, noting that while the last nesting birds are still caring for their young, new arrivals appear each morning, filling the reserve with life. She also mentioned the arrival of migrating Danaus chrysippus butterflies, adding to the reserve's natural beauty. Rubin emphasized the ecological importance of Hula Valley as a critical stopover habitat along the bird migration route, providing abundant food and a safe resting area for various species to replenish energy during their journey.
