Israeli Paramedic Delivers His Own Baby Daughter in Ambulance En Route to Hospital

Yitzhak Bendahan, a paramedic from Magen David Adom (MDA) in Jerusalem, experienced a unique and emotional moment when he delivered his own daughter in an ambulance. The incident occurred while driving his pregnant wife, Yael, who was in advanced labor, from their home in Beit Shemesh to a hospital in Jerusalem. Realizing they would not reach the hospital in time, Yitzhak stopped the ambulance safely on the roadside and assisted in the birth.

Yitzhak, who keeps an emergency ambulance at his home for rapid response in his area, described the event as unlike any other he had encountered despite having delivered many babies in his professional capacity. He recounted how he immediately recognized the urgency and acted on his training to safely deliver a healthy baby girl. The couple was surprised and thrilled to welcome a daughter, a moment Yitzhak said he will never forget.
