Israeli Paramedic Delivers His Own Daughter After Stopping Ambulance on Way to Hospital

Yitzhak Bendahan, a paramedic with Magen David Adom (MDA) in the Jerusalem district, experienced the most emotional moment of his career when he delivered his own daughter in an ambulance en route to the hospital. Bendahan, who lives in Beit Shemesh and keeps an emergency ambulance at home, was driving his wife Yael, who was in advanced labor, to the hospital when he realized they would not arrive in time. He safely pulled over to the side of the road and used his professional experience to deliver a healthy baby girl within minutes. The couple had not known the baby's gender beforehand, making the birth an especially joyful surprise. After the delivery, mother and daughter continued to the hospital for routine medical checks and were reported to be in good condition. MDA noted that its teams assist with hundreds of out-of-hospital births annually, but for Bendahan, this was a unique and unforgettable experience as both paramedic and father.
