First look at the luxury hotel planned for Ben Gurion Airport

The story · English

Israel’s Planning Administration has approved a permit application for a new five-star hotel at Ben Gurion Airport, in a project led by Brown Hotels and Israel Canada. The hotel will be built next to Terminal 3 and is intended to serve departing and arriving passengers, travelers facing delays or long layovers, as well as flight crews and business travelers.

The project is being advanced by the Transportation Ministry and the Israel Airports Authority as part of a broader development plan for the airport. It is designed above a new baggage screening structure on the eastern side of the terminal, with most of that infrastructure placed underground to save space. The total built area will be about 31,500 square meters, and construction is expected to begin during 2028, after the lower infrastructure level is completed.

The hotel, to be built by Brown Hotels and designed by Manco Shenar Architects, will have roughly 260 to 270 luxury rooms, retail space, restaurants, co-working areas, an advanced conference center, and a spa with a swimming pool. A rooftop area will give guests a direct panoramic view of the runways. It will also include internal pre-flight check-in counters so guests can complete airline check-in from the lobby.

Final approval is still subject to a long list of design and regulatory conditions, including fire safety approvals, expanded Home Front Command protection measures, strict green-building standards, and sign-off from the Civil Aviation Authority and the Defense Ministry. Transportation Minister Miri Regev said the hotel is part of a wider push to expand services and improve the passenger experience, adding that the goal is to place Ben Gurion Airport “in the same league as the world’s leading airports.”
