Israeli Defense Officials Warn Explosive Drone Threat Could Spread to West Bank

Israeli security officials are increasingly concerned about the threat posed by explosive drones, a tactic that has proven effective in recent conflicts in Lebanon. According to a report by N12, the threat is expected to extend to the West Bank region. A security source stated, "It is clear to us that this will reach here as well."

The Israeli defense establishment is closely monitoring evolving combat methods observed in the Russia-Ukraine war to learn lessons and prepare in advance. Alongside intelligence gathering, efforts are underway to develop solutions to counter the drone threat before it materializes on the ground.

These drones are relatively simple and can be easily purchased online, then converted for operational use by attaching fiber optic cables. Officials noted that once an effective countermeasure is found for a single drone, it could be scaled to defend against larger drone attacks.

The issue is considered a significant threat, prompting a race against time within the security apparatus to develop effective capabilities. The concern is reinforced by experience in Lebanon, where Hezbollah employed explosive drones as a key weapon during the recent conflict.
