Strategist Says Lieberman’s Outreach Boosted Eisenkot in Polls
Strategic adviser Ofer Inbar said on Friday that Avigdor Lieberman made a major mistake by helping to normalize Gadi Eisenkot politically. In an interview on Radio 103FM, Inbar said, "Who made the biggest mistake or normalized him was Lieberman. The moment he started meeting and talking with him, what happened was that the public, which was on the soft right parked with Bennett, moved to him." He added that in the end, Lieberman will likely "find himself with fewer mandates."
Inbar’s comments came amid recent polls showing Eisenkot surging and overtaking the "Together" party led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid. He said the shift happened because voters from the soft right moved from Bennett to Eisenkot after Lieberman began engaging with him.
The report also noted that Likud has identified Eisenkot as the main rival and decided to focus less on Bennett. Separately, Channel 13 reported on Thursday night that the drop in the polls has caused clashes and tension among the leadership of "Together."
