Egypt Pushes to Accelerate Deployment of Multinational Force in Gaza to Break Stalemate

Egypt is actively working with the United States and other international actors to expedite the deployment of the multinational peacekeeping force in Gaza, according to a report by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, affiliated with Hezbollah. Cairo aims to overcome the current deadlock in Gaza through this deployment, viewing the force as a means to enforce a new security reality that would prevent the collapse of the ceasefire agreement.

The report states that these efforts stem from intense consultations held in Cyprus, which primarily focused on supporting and initiating the technocratic government committee in Gaza led by Ali Shaath. Discussions also included the possibility of establishing "pilot zones" in Rafah, southern Gaza, designated for housing residents in ready-made residential units, rather than immediately pursuing comprehensive reconstruction projects.

This initiative comes amid preparations for implementing the Trump administration's plan, with reports of officers conducting inspections in Gaza prior to the technocratic government's entry. The context suggests a strategic move to stabilize Gaza's security and political situation while addressing humanitarian and governance challenges.
