Israeli Goalkeeper Daniel Peretz Reassures Fans Over Hand Bandage During Southampton Training

Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, currently with Southampton FC, addressed concerns about the bandage on his hand during the club's preseason training camp in Germany. Speaking to the club's fan site SaintsExtra, Peretz explained that the bandage is for protection and not a sign of serious injury. "I’m feeling good," he said, noting he has worn the bandage since last season and it does not affect his ability to play or train.

Peretz recently started in a friendly match against Eintracht Braunschweig, playing the first half before being substituted. He expressed enthusiasm about the fans who traveled to Germany, saying, "It was really nice to see them after the break, and I can’t wait to see them again at our home stadium." He emphasized the importance of fan support for the upcoming season, stating both players and supporters need to bring full energy to achieve their goals.

Peretz officially joined Southampton about six weeks ago after the club purchased him from Bayern Munich, following a loan spell in the latter half of last season. In 22 Championship appearances, he kept eight clean sheets and lost only once, playing a key role in Southampton’s rise from the bottom of the table to fourth place.

He also contributed to Southampton’s impressive FA Cup run, which ended with a semi-final loss to Manchester City at Wembley. However, the season was marred by a spying scandal involving a club staff member who gathered intelligence on rival teams, including Middlesbrough. This led to Southampton’s disqualification from the playoff final and prevented their promotion to the Premier League.
