Roman Sorkin Rises From Lower League to EuroLeague Star with Maccabi Tel Aviv

Avi Even, former professional manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv, revealed that he initially wanted to sign Sorkin before the player went to college, but Sorkin was reluctant and chose the college route instead. Even emphasized that Sorkin's path was not easy and required patience and development, noting that sometimes progress takes longer than expected or does not happen at all. He shared a lesson from coach Nikola Vujcic about self-belief, highlighting that players must prove themselves to earn their place. Even praised Maccabi Tel Aviv for taking a chance on Sorkin, who has now become one of the team's top players, recently signing a contract extension for five more years, calling it a true success story for the club.
When asked about Sorkin's preferred playing position, Even recounted advice from coach David Blatt, who told players to focus on where they contribute most to the team rather than fixating on a specific position. Sorkin's versatility in playing both power forward (4) and center (5) positions makes him a formidable asset against opponents.
