Ben Gurion Airport experienced a temporary halt in takeoffs, causing numerous flights to be delayed without prior notice to passengers. Many travelers expressed frustration over the lack of communication, with one passenger telling ynet that hundreds were stuck on planes without clearance to depart, criticizing Arkia Airlines for scheduling flights during airport closure.

Arkia responded by explaining that unusual morning congestion led to delays in four flights, which subsequently affected the entire day's flight schedule. The airline acknowledged that some flights were scheduled to take off during the planned airport closure period.

To address the inconvenience, Arkia announced it would compensate each affected passenger with $250, despite the delays being under eight hours. The airline described this gesture as going beyond standard obligations.
