IDF Imposes Curfew and Launches Wide Operation in Samaria After Deadly Attack

Following a deadly attack in the Samaria region, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared a curfew and began extensive operational activities across the area. The attack occurred earlier on Friday near the village of Tel, where 32-year-old Benyahu Malat Hy"d, a resident of Gilad Farm, was killed after a terrorist stole a security weapon and opened fire on a group of hikers.

In response, the IDF reinforced its forces throughout Samaria to enable unrestricted security operations aimed at locating those involved and preventing further attacks. Overnight, IDF units conducted intensive operations in multiple locations across Judea and Samaria, arresting suspects inciting terrorism, interrogating others, and seizing various weapons. The focus was on villages with heightened terrorist activity, including Beit Furik and Tubas, where operations had already begun the previous evening.

Over 80 suspects were detained in the past week, including Hamas affiliates, stone and Molotov cocktail throwers, and militants preparing explosives. Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir held a situation assessment with Central Command and the Military Intelligence Directorate, ordering a broad reinforcement of forces to strengthen security and capture all involved in the attack. A multi-agency assessment led by the Central Command commander is ongoing, involving the Judea and Samaria Division, regional police, and the Shin Bet.

The terrorist responsible for the attack was neutralized shortly after the incident, and the stolen weapon was recovered by security forces. The IDF continues its counterterrorism efforts in Samaria, focusing on identifying additional accomplices in the deadly shooting.
