Family Vows to Rebuild After Devastating Fire Destroys Gilad Farm Business and Homes

A massive fire broke out last Saturday at Gilad Farm, causing extensive destruction to homes and businesses, including the property of Tamar Cohen, a resident for nearly 20 years and owner of the "Tzameret Wood Center." In an interview with Channel 7, Cohen described the emotional pain of witnessing the once vibrant green landscape turn to blackened ruins and the loss of their family business, which was valued at approximately 12 million shekels. The business, a large wood trading center with a factory and technical store, was established four years ago by her husband Yehuda and his brother Yehoyada, who seized the opportunity to relocate a major wood warehouse from Kedumim to the farm.

Cohen emphasized that the farm and its businesses are much more than "just wood and stones," calling them the beating heart of the community where her entire family, including children, were involved. Despite the devastation, she expressed strong faith and hope for renewal, viewing the tragedy as a painful but meaningful challenge from God. She envisions rebuilding "Tzameret" into an even greater center that will continue to serve and employ the Israeli community, upholding the values of Hebrew labor.

The family has been overwhelmed by the support from across Israel, with numerous WhatsApp groups and fundraising campaigns mobilizing to aid their recovery. Cohen noted the irony that their business was uninsured due to its wood-related nature and location in a young settlement prone to arson, but she feels the solidarity of the Israeli people is their greatest insurance. She called on the public to continue sharing and supporting their cause to help them rebuild and restore the farm.
