Israeli Sports Agency Seeks Long Suspensions for Tiberias Club Staff Over Doping Allegations

The National Anti-Doping Agency in Israel has escalated the doping scandal involving Hapoel Ironi Tiberias by filing formal charges against six club officials. The complaint, submitted to the Sports Drugs Tribunal by the agency's legal advisor Asaf Elrom, accuses the individuals of administering prohibited substances to players in violation of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code. The accused include head coach Eliran Hodida, manager Gabriel Cohen, fitness coach Shlomi Vadraro, technical director Chen Sol, senior official Michael Beitan, and staff member Aviv Jibli.

This legal action follows a prior decision by the agency to impose temporary suspensions on involved staff and players. After reviewing the collected evidence, the agency now demands severe penalties ranging from multi-year suspensions to lifetime bans from sports activities. The agency alleges that the accused acted with "complete indifference and blatant disregard" for the players' health and safety, exploiting their authority over players and blatantly violating WADA regulations.
