Tottenham Faces Squad Registration Challenges That Could Affect Manor Solomon's Future

Manor Solomon started Tottenham Hotspur's first preseason match ahead of the 2026/27 season, earning playing time under coach Roberto De Zerbi. However, Tottenham is currently facing a significant dilemma due to Premier League squad registration rules, which may impact Solomon's future at the club.

According to Premier League regulations, each club can register up to 25 senior players, with a maximum of 17 allowed to be non-Homegrown players. Tottenham currently has 29 senior players, including 21 who do not meet the Homegrown criteria. The Homegrown status depends on a player's development path, requiring registration with an English or Welsh club for three seasons before turning 21. Since Solomon developed in Israel and joined England later in his career, he does not qualify as Homegrown, occupying one of the limited non-Homegrown slots.

Tottenham has not completed its transfer business, with reports indicating advanced talks to sign Sabino, which could exacerbate the registration issue. Meanwhile, Cristian Romero is expected to leave the club, and injured players Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are unlikely to be registered at the season's start. Even with these changes, Tottenham must still reduce its squad to comply with league rules.

This situation means Solomon could be among several players, including Cota Takai, Guglielmo Vicario, Antonin Kinsky, and Richarlison, who might be sold or loaned out to meet the registration limits. Despite Solomon's positive performance in preseason, his future depends heavily on the club resolving this registration bottleneck. Until then, even valued players risk exclusion from the squad or the club due to regulatory constraints.
