Tottenham Faces Squad Registration Dilemma Threatening Manor Solomon's Future

Manor Solomon started Tottenham's first preseason match ahead of the 2026/27 season, earning playing time under coach Roberto De Zerbi. However, Tottenham is currently facing a significant challenge complying with Premier League squad registration rules, which could impact Solomon's future at the club. According to Premier League regulations, each team can register up to 25 senior players, with a maximum of 17 non-Homegrown players. Tottenham currently has 29 senior players, including 21 who do not meet the Homegrown criteria, forcing the club to reduce its squad before the season begins.

The Homegrown status depends on a player's development path rather than nationality; a player must have been registered with an English or Welsh club for three seasons before turning 21. Solomon, who developed in Israel and joined England later in his career, does not qualify as Homegrown and thus occupies one of the limited non-Homegrown slots. Meanwhile, Tottenham is still active in the transfer market, reportedly close to signing Sabinio, which could exacerbate the registration issue.

On the outgoing side, Cristian Romero is expected to leave the club, and injured players Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are unlikely to be registered at the start of the season. Even with these changes, Tottenham must make further adjustments to comply with the rules. This situation puts Solomon and other players such as Kuta Tekai, Guglielmo Vicario, Antonin Kinsky, and Richarlison at risk of being sold or loaned out despite their professional value.

While Solomon showed positive performance in preseason, his future may depend more on administrative decisions than on his on-field contributions. Until Tottenham resolves its squad registration predicament, valued players could find themselves excluded from the team or transferred.
