Retired General Uzi Dayan Urges Stronger Stance Against Iran and Internal Unity in Israel

Retired Major General Uzi Dayan, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, spoke on Channel 14's 'Israel This Morning' about the escalating security threats posed by Iran. He warned of an immediate danger from Tehran, emphasizing that Israel must maintain heightened alertness against potential attacks from Iran or its foreign bases, possibly within minutes.

Dayan criticized the United States' approach toward Iran, accusing Washington of favoring negotiations over decisive military action. He called on then-President Donald Trump to adopt a more forceful strategy, suggesting that economic sanctions targeting Iran's transportation infrastructure, such as bridges, airports, and seaports, could severely damage the Iranian economy. Dayan stressed that Trump should "stop threatening and start implementing" such measures.

In addition to external threats, Dayan highlighted the importance of internal cohesion in Israel, especially around the time of the fast of Tisha B'Av. He linked the ongoing war, upcoming elections, and this solemn day under the common theme of the need for victory. Dayan warned against the dangers of internal discord and political exploitation of domestic divisions, which he described as benefiting "enemies within." He urged Israelis to overcome internal conflicts to ensure national strength and resilience.
