Extreme Heat Warnings Issued Across Israel on Tisha B'Av Amid High Temperatures

On Thursday, coinciding with the Tisha B'Av fast, Israel is experiencing intense heatwaves with heavy to extreme heat burdens across most regions. The Meteorological Service issued a red alert for extreme heat in areas including the Beit She'an Valley, Sea of Galilee Basin, Jordan Valley, northern and southern Judean Desert, Dead Sea, and northern Arava. Additionally, a yellow alert covers the western Lower Galilee, Carmel Coast, western Galilee slopes, central and southern coastal plains, Shfela, northern Samaria, northwestern Negev, southern Negev, and Eilat Mountains.

The coastal plain is expected to endure oppressive humidity alongside the heat. Temperatures today will be above average in the mountains and inland, with milder conditions along the coast. Specific forecasts for Thursday include Jerusalem at 18-32°C, Tel Aviv 24-32°C, Be'er Sheva 24-36°C, Haifa 25-31°C, Tiberias 25-39°C, Safed 25-30°C, and Eilat 31-41°C.

Relief is anticipated starting Friday, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the morning clearing later, and temperatures dropping mainly in the mountains and inland to seasonal norms. Heat burdens will ease, and winds will strengthen in the afternoon. Saturday is expected to be clear after morning clouds with a slight temperature increase.

The Meteorological Service cautions the public about dehydration risks during the fast and urges precautions against the extreme heat conditions.
