Iran Threatens to Cut Power to US Allies in Middle East Amid Rising Hormuz Strait Tensions

Iran has issued a sharp warning to the United States following President Donald Trump's threats of severe retaliation if Iranian forces attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump earlier warned that any Iranian assault on vessels would prompt the US to destroy Iranian bridges and power plants, including those near Tehran, emphasizing that Iran would pay a heavy price and reiterating opposition to Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. He also stated that Americans are primarily concerned about rising fuel prices rather than seeking war.

In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared that if the US attacks Iranian infrastructure, it will target US-associated infrastructure in the Middle East. IRGC Air Force Commander Mousavi specifically threatened to cut electricity to US regional allies if Iranian roads and power plants are attacked. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf added that in areas where Iran does not sell oil, no one else will be allowed to sell oil, warning that the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-conflict state.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized Iran as unserious about negotiations and warned against a country controlling an international waterway while attacking ships. Additionally, Mossad Chief David Barnea met with CIA Director John Ratcliffe in Washington to discuss the escalating situation around Iran.

The tensions around the strategic Strait of Hormuz continue to escalate with mutual threats, raising concerns about potential disruptions to global oil supplies and regional stability.
