Israel Warns Iranian Missiles Targeting Jordan Could Threaten Southern Border

In recent days, Iran has launched missile strikes toward Jordan, causing loud explosions near Eilat, Israel, and raising security concerns. The Israeli military is closely monitoring the situation, as the proximity of the Jordanian port city of Aqaba to Israel means these missile launches could spill over and pose a direct threat to residents of Eilat, the Arava region, Ramon Airport, and southern IDF bases.

The Home Front Command and the Edom Division have updated their protocols to prepare for potential missile impacts in the area. A senior Israeli security official stated that Iran aims to signal its capability to strike Israeli territory if Israel joins the American-led coalition against Iran. The official noted uncertainty about why Iran chose this specific region for the attacks.

Israel is preparing for all scenarios, including intercepting missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran, Yemen, and Iraq, and is ready to respond decisively to any Iranian aggression. Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir have emphasized that any attack on Israel will be met with a powerful response.

The IDF assesses it is only a matter of time before Iranian fire reaches Israeli territory, amid internal Iranian debates on whether to strike Israel now, as they do Jordan, or to wait for a later stage.
