Israeli Company Receives First Halachic Certification for Smart Home Systems

The Scientific Technological Institute for Halacha has granted its first-ever strict kosher certification to a series of smart electrical systems, marking a milestone in home automation in Israel. This halachic-technological approval was awarded to Nisco Electric's "Smart Home" and "Smart Electricity" product lines after extensive laboratory tests and technological adjustments to ensure compliance with Jewish law during Shabbat and holidays. The certification process involved close collaboration between Nisco's engineering teams, led by Smart Home manager Kobi Shaked, and rabbis and engineers from the institute, headed by Rabbi Avraham Moshe Halperin.

The evaluation focused on preventing the activation of sensors, circuit closures, or current changes that are prohibited on Shabbat. A professional tour of Nisco's factories and development labs was conducted with the participation of Nisco CEO Eyal Sayer and institute leaders, where the mechanisms were examined and the necessary adaptations approved. This development is considered a breakthrough for observant Jewish communities, enabling the integration of smart home automation systems that are fully compliant with halachic requirements for the first time.
