AEK Athens Plans to Sign Two Midfielders, May Still Pursue Kings Kangwa

Kings Kangwa's future remains uncertain after his recent appearance in Hapoel Be'er Sheva's 2-1 loss to Vikingur, which may have impacted his anticipated transfer to AEK Athens. Greek media report that AEK has not ruled out signing Kangwa, despite prioritizing the acquisition of two midfielders to strengthen their squad for the UEFA Champions League playoffs. According to Orton Sport, AEK highly values Kangwa and might attempt to sign him later this summer or during the winter transfer window.

The clubs had previously agreed on a transfer fee of 3.5 million euros and finalized Kangwa's salary terms. Meanwhile, AEK could generate additional funds by selling left-back James Penrice to Celtic, aiding coach Marko Nikolic's plans. The club's strategy involves securing a midfielder promptly to compete in the Champions League qualifiers, with Kangwa's signing potentially following once the immediate needs are addressed.
