Ironi Tiberias Prepares for Football Association Court Hearing Over Doping Allegations

Ironi Tiberias football club is set to appear before the Israeli Football Association's Supreme Court on Wednesday at 14:30 to address a petition filed by the club's lawyer, Ayal Yaffe. The petition seeks an injunction to halt ongoing disciplinary proceedings related to allegations of illegal doping within the club. The club demands a suspension of the indictment filing due to what it calls a "contaminated investigation," reinstatement of the suspended coach, staff, and five players, full disclosure of all investigation materials including hidden polygraph results, and a broad investigation into doping practices across all league teams.

The Supreme Court will decide whether to continue the disciplinary process or grant interim orders to freeze it. Ironi Tiberias accuses the lead investigator, Din Perger, of having a predetermined goal to relegate the club. The club also criticizes the Football Association, which responded by calling the petition "ridiculous" and a mere media smokescreen that will not affect the forthcoming serious indictment. The Association reminded that the club previously claimed innocence but still received one of the harshest penalties in the sport's history.

The Association's prosecutor, Gilad Bergman, has yet to file the indictment, but the Association remains confident the allegations are severe and expects the petition to be dismissed outright. Meanwhile, the Israeli Sports Anti-Doping Agency continues a parallel investigation unrelated to the court petition. Coach Eliran Hodeda, player Chen Sol, and four other players remain suspended, with no agreement yet on a plea deal to end the temporary suspensions and impose permanent sanctions.

Ahead of their season opener against Bnei Sakhnin on Saturday in the Toto Cup, the club is striving to maintain high morale. The team emphasized unity and resilience despite the difficult situation. Maurice Ozen, the youth department's professional manager, is expected to lead the team in the upcoming match, as revealed by Channel 5 Sports.
