Ironi Tiberias Prepares for Football Association Court Hearing Over Doping Allegations

Ironi Tiberias football club is set to appear before the Israeli Football Association's Supreme Court on Wednesday at 14:30 to contest disciplinary proceedings related to illegal doping allegations. The club's lawyer, Ayal Yafe, filed a petition seeking an injunction to halt the ongoing process against the club. The petition demands a freeze on the indictment submission, reinstatement of the suspended coach, staff, and five players, full disclosure of all investigation materials including hidden polygraph results, and a broad investigation into doping across all league teams.

The court will decide whether to continue the disciplinary process or grant interim orders to suspend it. Ironi Tiberias accuses investigator Din Perger of bias, claiming he aims to demote the club. The Israeli Football Association dismissed the petition as "ridiculous" and a mere media smokescreen, asserting it will not affect the forthcoming serious indictment. The association also recalled that the club previously claimed innocence but still received one of the harshest penalties in the sport's history.

Prosecutor Gilad Bergman has yet to file the official indictment, but the association is confident the allegations are severe and expects the petition to be rejected outright. Parallel proceedings continue at the Israeli Sports Anti-Doping Agency, unrelated to the court petition. Meanwhile, suspended players Eliran Hodeda, Chen Sol, and four others remain barred from play, with no plea deal reached to end the suspensions.

Ahead of their season opener against Bnei Sakhnin in the Toto Cup on Saturday, the club strives to maintain high morale. The team emphasized resilience, stating, "We must not give up or surrender. This is a difficult situation, but we have managed to recover. We are together until the end." Maurice Ozen, the youth department's professional manager, is expected to coach the upcoming match.
