Amit Segal Highlights Political Deadlock Among Netanyahu Opponents Over Coalition Options

Amit Segal, political analyst for Channel 12 News, identifies the main challenge facing opposition parties in Israel as the lack of a unified plan for forming a government if they fail to secure a 61-seat majority in the Knesset. Segal warns that this unresolved issue regarding the future coalition's composition could trigger internal conflicts within the opposition bloc. He explains that disagreements may arise over potential partners, with figures like Yair Golan advocating cooperation with Arab parties, Benny Gantz potentially favoring an alliance with Netanyahu, and others proposing collaboration with ultra-Orthodox parties.

Segal predicts that such disputes could push voters back toward Netanyahu's camp, a new right-wing party, or lead them to abstain from voting altogether. He notes that Netanyahu aims to focus on relying on Arab parties to block the opposition from forming a government. According to Segal, Netanyahu sees an opportunity to attract four to five seats directly from Gadi Eizenkot's supporters. Netanyahu's strategy is to convey to these voters that their choices boil down to either partnering with ultra-Orthodox parties or facing new elections.
