Tel Aviv Court Extends Detention of Teacher Accused of Raping 12-Year-Old Student

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended the detention of Muhammad Al Naqib, a 27-year-old middle school math teacher from Lod, by six days on July 16, 2026. Al Naqib is suspected of raping his 12-year-old student. According to police investigations, the alleged abuse was not an isolated incident; he reportedly met the student at least twice outside school, including time spent together at Tel Aviv beaches. Investigators confronted him with sexually explicit messages found on his phones, and during questioning, Al Naqib broke down in tears and admitted to the offenses.

A legal advisor has been appointed to the case, and prosecutors are preparing an indictment expected to be filed soon. Authorities are also investigating whether other students may have been victimized. Following the lifting of a publication ban on his name, police hope additional victims or witnesses will come forward to aid the investigation.

Further inquiries revealed that Al Naqib previously worked at another Tel Aviv school during his internship, which was terminated early due to dissatisfaction with his performance. Despite this, he was hired last year at the middle school where the alleged crimes occurred. Police continue to gather evidence at the Tel Aviv North station and are exploring the possibility of more victims who have not yet reported the abuse.
