Tel Aviv Math Teacher Muhammad Naqib Charged with Raping 12-Year-Old Student

Muhammad Naqib, a 27-year-old math teacher from a prestigious high school in Tel Aviv, has been formally accused of raping his 12-year-old student. The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court lifted the gag order on his name on July 16, 2026, following a police request to identify potential additional victims who have not yet come forward. During the investigation, Naqib reportedly admitted to the allegations after being confronted with evidence, including sexually explicit messages found on mobile phones.

The investigation revealed that the alleged abuse occurred over multiple occasions, with at least two meetings where Naqib picked up the student in his private car and they spent time together on Tel Aviv beaches. Naqib was arrested two days prior at the Tel Aviv North police station as part of an ongoing inquiry. His detention was extended by five days to allow further investigation.

Israeli police are currently examining whether this case is part of a broader pattern and are encouraging other potential victims or witnesses to come forward following the publication of Naqib's name. Naqib's attorney, Rotem Seri, described him as a normal individual and emphasized that the investigation is at an early stage, with disputes over the nature of the alleged acts and claims of rights violations during the investigation. Seri expressed confidence that the truth will ultimately be clarified.
