Tel Aviv Math Teacher Muhammad Naqib Named in 12-Year-Old Student Rape Case
Muhammad Naqib, a 27-year-old math teacher from Lod, has been identified as the suspect in the rape of his 12-year-old student at a prestigious high school in Tel Aviv. The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court authorized the publication of his name on Friday after the police requested lifting the gag order to investigate whether there are additional victims who have not yet come forward. Naqib was arrested on Wednesday, questioned, and his detention was extended by five days by court order. The investigation began recently at the Tel Aviv North police station following a report of sexual offenses committed by the teacher against his student. Naqib was arrested by police officers at the station.
The school principal issued a statement to parents and students expressing concern and assuring support, stating that the school will continue to be attentive and sensitive to the needs of students and families. The school will provide personalized counseling services, and starting Sunday, individual meetings with counselors and the school psychologist can be arranged. The principal emphasized the importance of working together with sensitivity and responsibility to provide appropriate support for every student.
