Architect Oren Greenspan Becomes Single Mother, Then Finds Love with Hagai Kalman

During the COVID-19 pandemic, architect Oren Greenspan, 41, decided to become a single mother after a series of failed relationships and realizing her dream of a traditional family was no longer attainable. She underwent fertility treatment at a sperm bank with the full support of her parents, actress Gilat Ankori and director Michael Greenspan. Today, she is the mother of four-year-old Itai and advocates for single motherhood as a valid choice for women.

Greenspan grew up in Tel Aviv in a family immersed in the entertainment industry and maintained a close, open relationship with her parents. After completing her architecture studies at Tel Aviv University, she started her own small firm specializing in residential projects. Despite wanting a relationship, she struggled with loneliness and unsuitable partners for years, which led her to embrace single motherhood.

Two years after beginning fertility treatments, Greenspan conceived Itai. She openly discusses raising him as a single mother, emphasizing transparency about his family structure. Recently, she began a relationship with Hagai Kalman, 45, a handyman she met on Tinder. Kalman, who had never been a father before, has become a significant figure in Itai’s life. The couple plans to move in together in south Tel Aviv and recently launched a joint business combining Greenspan’s design expertise with Kalman’s handyman skills.

Both see their relationship as a mature, calm love, contrasting with Greenspan’s previous experiences. They are considering marriage but are content with their current family dynamic. Greenspan acknowledges that while she is fulfilled as a mother, having another child would require further fertility treatments, which she is not currently pursuing. Kalman describes his unexpected joy in becoming part of a family through their relationship.
