US intelligence agencies, primarily the CIA, assess that recent US military strikes in Iran have not significantly influenced the Iranian leadership or softened Tehran's stance in ongoing negotiations. Analysts highlight that the US and Iran remain locked in an ambiguous state between peace and war, with the current escalation under President Trump leading to a stalemate. Despite losing many senior leaders and substantial military capabilities due to US and Israeli attacks, the Iranian regime continues to demonstrate resilience and stability.

In May, the CIA estimated that Iran could endure a US naval blockade for three to four months before facing severe economic distress. Within Iran, US officials observe increasing tensions between pragmatic factions and hardliners, particularly within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other power centers, whose influence has recently grown. This internal friction complicates the prospects for diplomatic resolution.
