Power Outage Hits Israeli Parliament and Government Complex Amid Heatwave

A power outage occurred in the government complex area in Jerusalem, affecting the Knesset building, the Ministry of Finance, and other nearby structures. The outage was caused by damage to a major electrical cable, reportedly during work carried out by a private contractor in the Knesset compound. Although the Knesset is currently in recess, work continues in the building, including the arrival of mobile units from the Central Elections Committee, which may be related to the power disruption due to the removal of caravans near the Knesset.

The Israel Electric Corporation reported that the high-voltage cable was likely damaged during contractor activities, causing the electricity supply to be cut off to the affected buildings. Electric company teams were dispatched to locate the damage, repair the infrastructure, and restore power as soon as possible. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
