The story · English

EnergeX, a publicly traded company on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, announced a 50 million shekel (approximately $14 million) investment over the next five years to establish an energy technology innovation center in collaboration with Tel Aviv University's Faculty of Engineering. The center will be located on the university campus and will feature an industrial-scale laboratory dedicated to early-stage research, development, testing, and validation of hardware and software technologies under real network conditions.

Alongside the lab, an Innovation Hub will connect researchers, entrepreneurs, and startups in the energy-tech sector, providing access to advanced infrastructure, business support, and assistance in advancing technologies from research to commercialization. EnergeX will also allocate 5 million shekels in research grants to university research groups and invest over one million shekels to upgrade the university’s energy lab with modern equipment for students.

Dafna Reznik, the innovation center manager, emphasized the goal of supporting the rapidly growing energy-tech industry and making research technologies accessible to both industrial companies and startups. She noted the rising demand for electrical engineering expertise and the lack of affordable large-scale labs for small companies, highlighting the center’s strategic role in exposing EnergeX to new developments. The company is seeking approval to designate the lab as a national infrastructure by the Innovation Authority.

Professor Noam Eliaz, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, stated that the center will bridge the gap between academic research and commercial products, significantly increasing the number of Israeli energy technologies reaching global markets and strengthening Israel’s leadership in addressing future energy challenges. The center responds to the increasing complexity of electricity production, supply, and management in Israel and worldwide, especially with growing demand from data centers and energy-intensive infrastructures.

EnergeX specializes in initiating, developing, financing, constructing, managing, and operating clean electricity production systems from renewable sources, focusing on photovoltaic energy combined with storage and wind energy. The new center aims to support early-stage technological solutions by simulating real network conditions and providing testing infrastructure for renewable energy, smart grids, smart meters, data processing, and energy databases.
