Iranian Leadership Divided Over Including Israel in Current Military Conflict

Recent foreign reports indicate a deep division within Iran's leadership regarding whether to involve Israel in the ongoing military confrontations. Israeli security officials attribute this internal dispute to two main factors: the absence of a clear and active Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not appeared publicly or responded promptly to regional events, and the assassination of Ali Larijani, the former Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council. Larijani was a key political figure capable of bridging extreme factions within the regime, especially between hardliners in the Revolutionary Guards who oppose any compromise with the United States and advocate escalating attacks against American allies.

Meanwhile, the United States has continued targeting Revolutionary Guards military assets for the eighth consecutive night and is preparing a large-scale operation involving hundreds of aircraft in the Middle East. In the past 48 hours, Israel has received dozens of various aircraft, including refueling tankers, signaling heightened readiness.

The Iranian leadership's debate centers on whether to include Israel in the conflict equation, similar to Gulf states and Jordan, or to exclude it due to the heavy costs such involvement would impose on the regime. The recent launch of four ballistic missiles from Iran toward Aqaba, Jordan, marked the closest point to Iran renewing attacks on Israel. The Israeli Air Force intercepted potential debris with two Iron Dome interceptors to prevent damage within Israeli territory.

In response, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir issued a warning to Iran, affirming that the Israel Defense Forces are prepared for renewed combat if Israeli territory is attacked. This tense situation unfolds amid ongoing regional instability and military escalations.
