Moscow Yeshiva Students Impress Torah Leaders During Spiritual Tour in New York
As the academic year concluded at the Tomchei Temimim yeshivas, outstanding students from the central Moscow Yeshiva for Young Men embarked on a spiritually uplifting journey to the Lubavitcher Rebbe's court in New York. After months of intensive study and preparation, the students joined a unique summer yeshiva program near the Rebbe's Ohel in Queens, beginning with a captivating lesson by the yeshiva head, Rabbi Moshe Lerman, followed by inspiring prayers and a motivational address from Rabbi Yitzchak David Grossman, the chief rabbi of Migdal HaEmek.
The yeshiva's founder, Rabbi Berel Lazar, Chief Rabbi of Russia, arranged special visits to the residences of prominent American rabbis and rebbes to encourage the students' continued dedication and to showcase the strength of the Jewish revival in Russia. This historic initiative echoed a similar visit 55 years ago when the Lubavitcher Rebbe sent Russian students to be tested by Rabbi Moshe Feinstein.
On Monday, the Moscow students were warmly received by Rabbi Reuven Feinstein, head of Yeshivat Tiferet Yerushalayim and grandson of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, who was deeply impressed by their mastery of Talmudic tractates. The following day, the Bobov-45 Rebbe welcomed them in Borough Park, praising their diligence and granting personal blessings. On Wednesday, the students and their educators met with Rabbi Gabriel Zinner, renowned halachic authority and author of the 'Netivei Gabriel' series, who examined their knowledge and commended their Torah efforts.
The delegation, including children of rabbis and emissaries from Russia and neighboring countries, was accompanied by educational staff led by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Wilesensky and Rabbi Chaim Moshe Weber. Supported by the 770 Russia Foundation under Rabbi Yehuda Davidov, the historic tour concluded a year of intense study with profound spiritual experiences, late-night gatherings, and extended prayer sessions near the Rebbe's resting place. The students are expected to return to Moscow strengthened and inspired to continue their Torah studies with renewed pride and commitment.
