Moscow Jewish School Celebrates Students Memorizing Over 12,000 Mishnayot and 800 Talmud Pages
In the spiritually uplifting atmosphere of the Chassidic month of Tammuz, the Marina Roscha Jewish Center in Moscow hosted a special event celebrating the achievements of young students at the central Talmud Torah school, "Cheder Menachem." This institution, known for its dedication to pure Torah education and nurturing generations of devout Chassidim, marked the culmination of an extensive oral study and memorization project.
Over approximately two months, under the committed guidance of educator Rabbi Yeshayahu Dovber Gross, the students memorized more than 12,000 Mishnayot and over 800 pages of the Talmud. The event took place in the center's elegant hall, gathering students, teaching staff, and emissaries who contributed to the project's success.
A highlight of the evening was the reading of a special blessing letter by Rabbi Zalman Shimon Deren, secretary of the Chief Rabbinate of Russia, sent by Rabbi Berel Lazar, the Chief Rabbi of Russia. Rabbi Lazar emphasized the spiritual purity brought about by Torah study and encouraged the children by quoting the Lubavitcher Rebbe's teachings on the profound impact of their learning on themselves and the world.
Community leaders, including Rabbi Mordechai Weisberg and Rabbi Avraham Gvirts, praised the students' dedication and the educational team's efforts, led by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Lipsker. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and personal gifts to the students, along with prize raffles and the rare honor of receiving a charity coin from the Lubavitcher Rebbe's hand.
The event ended with a heartfelt musical performance by Rabbi Avraham Elimelech Gedz and his son, who also earned the title of "Chatan Torah," singing a special song about parents' prayers for their children. The students left the celebration radiant with joy and spiritually enriched, hopeful that their Torah study merits will hasten the coming of the complete redemption.
