Israeli PM's Office Launches National AI Challenge to Identify Key Public Impact Projects

The National Artificial Intelligence Headquarters at the Israeli Prime Minister's Office has initiated a new campaign to map Israel's core national challenges where AI can drive significant improvements. The initiative invites government ministries, tech companies, researchers, academia, and the general public to propose areas where AI solutions could create meaningful change in citizens' lives. This effort aims to identify key problems rather than immediate technological solutions, focusing on understanding gaps, affected populations, desired changes, and conditions for successful AI implementation.

The campaign operates through the government procurement management's challenge platform, connecting various stakeholders including startups and experts. Proposed challenges will inform the selection of flagship national projects to be advanced by the National Institute for Impact-driven AI. Priority areas include reducing bureaucracy and wait times, improving rights realization, early risk detection, easing public system burdens, enhancing data-driven decision-making, streamlining complex processes, and developing new national capabilities.

The selected challenges will concentrate on five main clusters such as society and human capital, security and resilience, and other broad-impact national domains. To engage the public, the AI headquarters will hold an open webinar tomorrow at 11:00 AM detailing the initiative's goals, focus areas, and submission process. The Prime Minister's Office encourages all relevant parties to participate and influence the national agenda by identifying challenges where AI can deliver the greatest public value for Israeli citizens.
