Father Sentenced to 20 Years for Sexually Abusing 3-Year-Old Daughter in Haifa

A deeply disturbing case in Haifa concluded with a father sentenced to 20 years and three months in prison for multiple sexual offenses against his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter and his ex-wife. The Central Lod District Court convicted the man of four counts of rape and seven counts of indecent acts against his toddler daughter, as well as three counts of rape against his former spouse, committed while she was asleep between 2017 and 2019.

The case came to light after the mother, suspecting abuse, installed hidden cameras in their home. She left the father alone with the child while monitoring the footage remotely on her phone. The recordings provided crucial evidence showing the father committing severe sexual offenses against the young girl, who was pacified with a phone and lying in bed at the time.

Judges Ammi Kovo, Merav Greenberg, and Efrat Pink emphasized the extreme severity of the crimes, highlighting the betrayal of trust and the power imbalance between father and daughter. They noted the lasting trauma such abuse can cause. The court also condemned the rapes of the ex-wife, stressing that a woman’s bodily autonomy must be respected even within marriage. The mother was praised for her courage and resourcefulness in exposing the abuse, which led to the immediate cessation of the offenses and the prosecution of the father.

Central District Prosecutor Iris Picker Segal stated that the lengthy prison sentence reflects the gravity of the offenses and the profound harm inflicted on both victims. She expressed hope that the punishment and compensation of 150,000 shekels awarded to the mother and daughter will aid their healing process. While the father begins serving his sentence, the mother and child face a long road of recovery following the trauma uncovered by the mother’s decisive actions.
