Jeff Dowtin Jr. Shifts From AEK Athens Talks to Napoli EuroCup Move
After an underwhelming debut season in Europe with Maccabi Tel Aviv, American guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. is seeking a new team in European basketball. Although he was in negotiations with AEK Athens, reports now indicate he is likely to join Napoli, which will compete in the EuroCup next season. Greek media revealed that the deal with AEK fell through not due to financial disagreements, as both sides had agreed on the salary. Instead, Dowtin reportedly imposed 37 conditions on the Greek club, all of which AEK accepted, but he later began to retract and requested more time. Ultimately, he has finalized his move to Napoli. In his previous season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Dowtin averaged 8.1 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.1 rebounds in 17 minutes per game in the EuroLeague. His next step will be competing in the EuroCup with Napoli.
