Israel Faces Intense Heatwave with High Humidity on Coastal Plain
Israel is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures starting Sunday, with a notable increase in heat stress across the country. Most regions will see clear skies and warmer-than-usual conditions, especially in the mountainous and inland areas where temperatures will reach heatwave levels. Coastal plain residents will endure high humidity, creating a muggy and oppressive atmosphere.
During the night, heat stress will lessen somewhat, but coastal humidity will remain very high, accompanied by low clouds covering parts of the area. The heatwave is expected to persist into Monday with little change in temperature. Winds along the coast will be moderate in the morning and strengthen slightly in the afternoon, but the combination of heat and humidity will continue to cause heavy heat stress in the coastal plain and lowlands.
In the valleys and the Jordan Rift Valley, heatwave conditions will prevail, prompting health advisories to avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak hours. Temperature forecasts for Sunday include Jerusalem at 23-33°C, Tel Aviv 25-32°C, Haifa 25-32°C, Afula 24-37°C, Ashdod 24-32°C, Ashkelon 26-31°C, Beersheba 25-38°C, Mitzpe Ramon 23-33°C, and Eilat 28-41°C. Despite the heat, around 60,000 people were reported to have enjoyed outdoor activities across Israel on Saturday.
