Israeli Tourists Attacked by Kazakh Man with Axe in Mongolia, One Injured
Six young Israelis were attacked by a Kazakh Muslim man in a tent campground in northern Mongolia during the night between Monday and Tuesday. The assailant, reportedly intoxicated, heard the group speaking Hebrew and approached them shouting "Heil Hitler" before attacking with an axe. One Israeli sustained a broken jaw and was evacuated to Israel for treatment, while the others were also evacuated from Mongolia. The Israelis declined to file a police complaint despite being offered the option. The Kazakh minority in Mongolia is currently in conflict with the government, though Mongolians are generally considered friendly toward Israelis. Mongolian authorities condemned the attack.
