Israeli Actress and Singer Shoshik Shani Dies at 91
Shoshik Shani, an Israeli actress and singer and the widow of singer Arik Lavie, passed away at the age of 91. She is survived by her two daughters, Noa and Yael, as well as grandchildren. Born Shoshana Shprung in Tel Aviv, Shani began performing on stage during her childhood and studied acting at the school founded by Yosef and Yemima Milow at the Cameri Theater.
In a 2023 interview with ynet, Shani recalled that she started acting in elementary school, organizing drama clubs and nurturing a strong desire to become an actress from a young age. Her mother, who had fled the Nazis in Germany and was herself a frustrated actress, supported her ambitions despite language barriers upon arriving in Israel. Shani's early exposure to theater and her family's artistic background shaped her lifelong career in the performing arts.
