Maccabi Haifa Women Launch Basketball Excellence Academy to Develop Future Talent

Maccabi Haifa Women’s Basketball team inaugurated a new Excellence Academy on July 26, 2026, aiming to nurture the next generation of female athletes in Israel. This pioneering project in northern Israel is a collaboration between Maccabi Haifa Women’s Basketball and the Reali Hebrew School in Haifa. It offers young female athletes a comprehensive program combining academic excellence with professional sports development.

The academy provides a full support system including professional training, medical and mental health guidance, personalized development plans, and leadership training. The initiative emphasizes the importance of balancing high-level sports performance with education, reflecting a belief that sports play a crucial role in shaping future leaders.

Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar praised the academy’s opening, highlighting Israel’s commitment to investing in women’s sports and creating equal opportunities for young female athletes nationwide. Ilan Bak, associated with the academy, stated that the project sends a clear message about the place women’s sports should hold in Israel.
