Gal Gadot Stars in Amazon Prime's New Thriller 'The Runner' Releasing September 2

Amazon Prime Video released the first official trailer for "The Runner," a psychological thriller starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot. Directed by Kevin Macdonald, known for "The Last King of Scotland," the film is set to premiere on the streaming platform on September 2. Gadot plays Maya Martin, a London-based lawyer whose son is kidnapped during her morning run. The plot unfolds as a tense race against time through city streets and underground train stations, with Maya forced to follow the kidnappers' demands without alerting the authorities.

The cast also includes Damian Lewis, Alfred Enoch, and Rory Wilmot. This project marks the first collaboration between Macdonald and Gadot, as well as Gadot's debut in an Amazon streaming thriller. Filming attracted media attention last year due to protests by anti-Israel demonstrators accusing Gadot of "normalizing war crimes" because of her support for Israel. In June 2025, British media reported arrests of several protesters at the Westminster filming location after attempts to disrupt production. By October, filming had moved to East London under heavy police security to deter further protests.

The film's release adds to Gadot's growing international profile and highlights the challenges faced during production amid political tensions. "The Runner" promises a gripping narrative centered on a mother's desperate fight to save her child under extreme pressure.
